In September, we are highlighting Joseph Haydn, an Austrian composer of the classical period. Born in 1732, Haydn spent the majority of his career as a court musician for the Esterházy family. He is often referred to as the "Father of the Symphony" and the "Father of the String Quartet" for his significant contributions to these musical forms. During his time as a music director for the Esterházy family, he received the honor of composing symphonies, string quartets, piano sonatas, and choral compositions. Because of his music, Haydn laid the foundation of the classical style that later influenced Beethoven and Mozart, and he is also remembered for his craftsmanship, elegance, and emotional depth. We recommend listening to The Seasons in preparation for the warm and cozy fall season!
