May Orchestra News

Winnie The Pooh Orchestra Performance

Starting the month of May, Reedy Orchestra Philharmonic students partnered with Reedy Theatre to put on the children's show, Winnie the Pooh. The Orchestra students guided the Theatre production by playing orchestral background music, and it was a great experience for students to collaborate between the different Reedy Fine Arts sectors!

Spring Concert

On May 10th, Reedy Orchestra hosted the annual Spring Concert at 7:30 pm in the Reedy Auditorium. Before the performances, students participated in the traditional Unity Circle where seniors shared advice and final goodbyes to the program.

Each orchestra performed a variety of pieces ranging from Mars by Gustav Holtz to Dance the Night by Dua Lipa. The senior orchestra, directed by Senior Orchestra president Cristian Yohannes, performed Cinema Paradiso together and received parting flowers. It was a wonderful celebration and close to the 2023-2024 school year!

Fine Arts Kickball Tournament

On Wednesday, May 15th, Reedy Orchestra students participated in the yearly Fine Arts Kickball Tournament. Excused from regular school classes, Reedy theatre, art, dance, orchestra, and band students competed against each other during first and second period. By the end of the event, Art won the tournament, but all teams worked hard and enjoyed participating! It was a highly anticipated event for students to celebrate the end of the school year and invite friendly competition and collaboration between the Fine Arts communities!

Junior/Senior Picnic Social

On Thursday, May 16th, Reedy Orchestra juniors and seniors shared a picnic dinner to watch the sunset and share final goodbyes. Students played a variety of games, took many photos together, and shared a wide range of desserts!

The Reedy Prelude will start again at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year with a new set of reporters! Until then, we encourage all Reedy Orchestra students to enjoy Summer Break and continue practicing solo work and All-Region/All-State repertoire!
